The second title in the Black Myth series draws on ancient Chinese mythology and folk legends surrounding Zhong Kui, a figure traditionally associated with subduing ghosts and demons. His depiction riding a tigerin the game was inspired by a Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) painting of Zhong Kui riding a tiger. The project was announced last August and remains in an early stage of development. Game Science said it chose to explore a new hero, gameplay, visuals, technology and story rather than rush to produce another Wukong title. The shift to Zhong Kui takes the series beyond the Monkey King, one of the best-known figures in Chinese mythology.
